Happy Holidays and Construction Update from the GM
As we gather this season to celebrate with friends and family, I want to share my wish for you to have the happiest of holidays, as well as update you on all things Putterham.  What happened to the weather?  I don’t know about you, but it seemed like our fall was too short, and winter was too early!

With winter here now, we’ll again be doing cross country ski trails beginning in January, weather and conditions permitting.  This year, our trails will be a bit more confined, due to the extensive construction project underway.  But if we are successful in receiving at least 6″ of snow, we’ll be out there grooming to provide you a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the property on skis.  If you don’t have skis, not to worry, we’ll have the ski shop open complete with rentals!

I’m happy to report that the construction project is now underway.  Right now, the concentration of the work is on holes 1, 3, 4, and 6.  By the first of the year, we anticipate those holes will be well along, and we will be able to shift efforts to holes 7, 8, and 11.  I’m very excited for how this project will benefit our beloved course.  The amount of engineering already done is truly remarkable, and to see it move from blueprints to dirt is exciting beyond words!  I’ve been putting together a weekly video update that I share on Instagram and encourage you to follow along!

Finally, I’m excited to share with you that a non-profit friends group has formally formed.  The Friends of Putterham is a group of community members who love Putterham and want to see it realize its full potential.  Please read more about it below.

Introducing the Friends of Putterham
A non-profit advisory group has been newly established to promote, improve, and expand access to the Putterham Golf Course. The Friends of Putterham is made up of golfers and other community members who value the golf course and its role in the broader Brookline community.  Friends of Putterham will work collaboratively with golf course management to advise and support the course’s long-term success.

One of the organization’s goals is to promote the course, not just as a destination for golfers, but for other non-golfing community members as well.  This includes supporting activities such as fairs, concerts, and movie nights, as well as the recently opened Putterham Woods walking trails.

In the coming months, Friends of Putterham will be offering several non-golfer membership options for people who want to support and stay connected to its future. Brookline Womens Golf Association Spreads the Holiday Cheer  

At their recent holiday party, the BWGA donated over 40 gifts to Toys For Tots, overflowing the donation box located at Brookline Bank.  The donation was greatly appreciated and will provide holiday gifts for children who might not otherwise receive them. The BWGA league plans to continue this as an annual tradition and hopes their effort inspires other Brookline organizations to do the same.  Check out some of their holiday party photos below.
