Happy spring! It was a long, cold winter. We are so excited for the warmer weather, to see the grass start to pop and to see a lot of the changes that have been made on the golf course come to life.
Our team is working hard, getting ready for our guests to enjoy the results of the most significant construction project in our history. Currently, the front 9 is still closed, as we wrap up the heavy excavation portion of this project and transition to the subterranean drainage improvements. When the front 9 reopens, hopefully in early May, there may still be some restrictions on a couple of holes, particularly on holes 4 and 9. The 4th fairway is being completely rebuilt ensuring the water sheds off the fairway. As a result, we will need the sodded fairway to establish before we allow play on it. The 9th fairway is being raised, as it has been an infamously wet spot on the course for decades. That fairway will be reseeded, but we do have a forward tee on the 9th hole that would allow us to play it temporarily as a par 3.
While most of our focus in the offseason has been on the course renovations, I would be remiss to not mention the other projects underway or recently completed. We have done quite a bit of work on the interior of the clubhouse. The dining room windows all have been fully restored, thanks to a Community Preservation Act (CPA) grant. They look spectacular! We refinished all the dining room woodwork as well. The kitchen, thanks to our partnership with Hemlock Grill, received some significant upgrades of cooking equipment, which will be key in meeting the increasing demand for their delicious food!
Still to come is another CPA project focused on developing trailheads for Putterham Woods. Each entrance will have signage, a trail map and information board, bike racks, trash cans, and landscaping improvements. We encourage you to check out our new trails!
Finally, it’s nice to welcome everyone back to Putterham for the 2026 golf season. My staff is committed to making sure that this facility becomes your home away from home. So if there’s anything that we can do to enhance your experience and make it the best it possibly can be, I ask you to please give our staff a chance to make that happen. Thank you for again for all your support.
