Construction Update: The Transformation of Putterham Has Begun
We’ve enjoyed keeping you updated on several construction projects that have been in the pipeline for the past few years, most notably the golf course masterplan and Putterham Woods. We are excited to share an update on both of these transformational projects.

First, we secured a contract with the Greener Group out of Lowell, MA to construct a series of trails in Putterham Woods. This urban forest will become an incredible place in our community to go for a walk, enjoy some quiet time in nature, and finally provide a better pedestrian connection to our surrounding neighborhood. We anticipate an opening of Putterham Woods at Harvest Fest on October 26th!

Secondly, as most of you know, we have been diligently working on fixing the drainage at the golf course. The initial round of bids in August all came in above budget. We went back out to bid last month and have secured a contractor! It is finally happening! While the details and contracts are being finalized, the gist of the news is we’re going to finally fix this golf course! We expect construction activities to begin over the next few weeks and kick into full gear by the end of this month.

The drainage project initially involves tree removal in several areas related to expansion and dredging of creeks, and then erosion control barriers and silt fences will be installed. Once those are inspected by the Conservation Commission Administrator, we will begin heavy construction. Due to the safety of those working on this project, we’ll be shutting down the front 9 likely in early November, and have golfers play just the back 9. There will likely be closures of holes that extend into spring, but at this time, it is difficult to pinpoint those plans. We’ll be sharing more updates as we go on this journey together.

Lights on the Range: Proposed Public Meeting Schedule
Beginning this month, the concept of adding lights to the driving range will be discussed at several public meetings. This is an important project for us, as we look to continue to provide value with our golf course rates, and executing master plan projects throughout the property. We’ll be sending out letters to abutters to provide official notice, but we wanted to also make you aware as a subscriber to the Putterham Times. Please note, dates and times are only official on the Town of Brookline meeting calendar.

Fall Golf Hours

As the days get shorter, we’re adjusting our hours to ensure golfers can finish their round. Our Twilight Golf rate, one of the best deals in town at $24, now starts at 5 pm, just enough time to squeeze in 9 holes.  Golf balls for the driving range are now available until 6:00 pm.  We’ll continue to adjust our hours in keeping with the increasingly earlier sunset, so be sure to check our website for updated times.  Hope to see you soon on the course!
